Important Features of Dog Bark Collar
A dog bark collar should perform it’s most basic function, which is to make a dog stop barking. But, the features can make a big difference in how that’s done and whether or not it’s effective. Here’s what to consider when choosing a dog bark control collar for your dog:
- Sound or vibration detection. What sets dark bark control collars apart from a standard training collar is the device used to detect barking. In the past, there have been problems with bark control collars that corrected at sounds that didn’t come from the dog wearing the collar. As you can imagine, false positives confuse dogs and work against any training progress. Today, collars either have technology that detects sound or vibrations. Collars with up-to-date technology have fewer instances of false positives, though it’s always a possibility. Models that rely on vibration are less likely to trigger a correction due to another dog’s bark, but can still correct at inappropriate times if your dog makes vocal noises that aren’t barking. Some collars have microprocessors that not only detect barks but can be adjusted to only trigger a correction when barking reaches a certain volume or intensity. A few have both vibration and sound detection technology to activate correction.
